VS. This verse was used to back up someone's believe that skirts are the way to go for girls. For "everything." But are we really-as New Testament believers still under the law? I don't think we are. Wearing pants as women has also become the social norm. (Not that I"m saying we can do anything cause it's what everyone else is doing.) I not only like to wear pants... But I think wearing a tie is a fun fashion statement; used to spice up my wardrobe. Yes, it's a guy's item of clothing; but is it really going against God's will? As long as we dress modestly as women, we are free to choose what type of clothes we wear?
Consider what is taught in 1 Timothy...
[9] likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, [10] but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works. [11] Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness.
(1 Timothy 2:9-11 ESV)

I think that it is fine to wear pants as young women, just don't let ourselves, as girls, dress immodestly. If people do dress in skirts, we shouldn't criticize them either.
ReplyDeleteTrue Bethany! I forgot about that verse where it says to basically not criticize how people interpret? certain things in the Bible... Like only eating vegetables verses eating a healthy balance of everything.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I'm not really debating skirts and pants... it really is normal for girls to wear pants. But I'm hoping it's ok to make a funky outfit, as long as it's modest. Cause I love being different in how I dress! :P
