The daddy had already been through the area many many times over his life, and the last time he had gone walking through the wood he had spotted a giant mushroom and wanted to show his find to his daughters, before the frost bit the mushroom and made it shrivel up. So through the trees and leaves and over the walnuts on the trail they trod on happily with their father until the dad led them over to the side of the trail to see the mushroom.
This imaginative dad thought God did such a wonderful job creating a snazzy sink design he took the time to "wash up" before continuing on with his daughters to the next treasure of the green belt.
The girls were so excited to see their dad's next forest treasure, for they were told of a great tree that had a gapping door to it's insides and could swallow you whole. The two sisters bounded ahead down the trail with their daddy to see the massive tree. They were getting so close to the tree, they had gone a good deal into the forest, over a small stream perhaps, under a bridge, and beside the Black Hawk creek when suddenly their dad led them off the path and around to the other side of the tree and the girls were amazed and pleased when they saw the giant cottonwood, they immediately peeked inside and commented on how it would make a grand home for some small animal to live in.
But that didn't hinder them from cautiously stepping inside the humongous cavity!
And the sister took a photo of the youngest sister and her father from inside the tree. They loved the new found hideout.
When they started back for home, along the way they stopped to rummage through some antique treasures that were partially buried in the dirt. The three found lots of stuff, including a skeleton of a trike, an old Vicki's vapor rub glass container, and a metal barrel, just to name a few.
Each of them found a little trinket that was interesting to them.
The father found a sole-less shoe.
The younger sister took a vintage Mountain Dew pop can; it was so old, it didn't even have the nutrition label on it, and the only state to offer a refund for the can was Iowa. Her dad thought it was from around 1970...
And the older sister found a neat-o, God made bracelet.
The family was happy to have the time to spend enjoying creation and the brilliant fall
afternoon. And went home to greet their mother who had been working that afternoon, and enjoyed their supper together telling of the days journey.
They lived striving to see God glorified, and enjoy Him...even if they didn't live "happily ever after," in this world. THE END. :)
